EASD 2024 in Madrid

  • At the 60th annual EASD 2024 conference in Madrid, we presented our AID solution myLoop powered by CamAPS FX, designed and licensed for use in pregnancy. Prof. Helen Murphy and Dr. Pilar Beato-Víbora demonstrated how pregnant women managing their type 1 diabetes can be counseled and cared for with myLoop at every stage of their pregnancy, with the aim of shortening the planning phase, achieving safe pregnancies and deliveries, and caring for healthy mothers.

In our Hot Topic session, Prof. Helen Murphy and Dr. Pilar Beato-Víbora explained how AID systems help women with type 1 diabetes achieve their glucose targets during pregnancy.

Pregnant women with type 1 diabetes tend to have large babies, approximately 50% of them will have babies with Large for Gestational Age (LGA). LGA is associated with preterm birth and the need for neonatal intensive care support. In utero exposure to hyperglycemia predisposes babies to obesity, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and neurocognitive issues, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, later in life.

Prof. Murphy emphasised that strict glycemic targets are essential both in planning and during pregnancy to avoid complications. myLoop makes it easier for women to achieve these goals because the CamAPS FX algorithm continuously adjusts insulin delivery.

Dr. Pilar Beato-Víbora used case studies and real data to demonstrate how myLoop supports women at all stages of life.

    Key take home messages:

    • Optimal glycemic management at conception (HbA1c target at 6.5%) and tight glycaemic targets (70% in TIRp 3.5 – 7.8 mmol/L throughout pregnancy are essential to minimize the risk of obstetric and neonatal complications

    • myloop powered by CamAPS FX enables women to achieve their glycemic targets and significantly improves TIRp from early pregnancy*

    • Rapid optimizations with CamAPS FX leading to less worry, less work and more enjoyable pregnancies*

    • Less gestational hypertension and lower rates of LGA and NICU*

    • The AiDAPT study also confirmed that pregnant women with a hybrid closed-loop system based on the CamAPS FX algorithm have increased TIRp, less weight gain and less hypertension*

    • Prof Helen Murphy suggests that myLoop powered by CamAPS FX should be offered to all pregnant women with T1D and all women with T1D planning a pregnancy*

myLoop combines the YpsoPump insulin pump with the CamAPS FX App and a sensor for continuous glucose measurement (Dexcom G6 or FreeStyle Libre 3 and FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus).
