Onboarding
Starting mylife Loop! The mylife Loop system comprises three integrated components from three separate manufacturers:
The YpsoPump insulin pump, used in conjunction with a compatible infusion set
The CamAPS FX application
A compatible continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system
Comprehensive training on each individual component is required prior to system initiation. Users must demonstrate appropriate understanding of device operation, infusion set management, application configuration, and CGM utilisation.
In addition, users should be clearly informed about manufacturer-specific support pathways and how to access technical and clinical assistance where required.
Please use the structure and supporting materials outlined below to guide and document a safe and effective mylife Loop start
1. What is required to complete a mylife Loop start
Pump Training Checklist must be completed during the pump start and recorded in a dedicated storage drive for future reference
Compatible phone with CamAPS FX app downloaded with in-app training completed (check the phone is compatible with chosen sensor)Dexcom G6FreeStyle Libre 3/Libre 3 Plus

Basal settings, bolus calculator settings, weight, total daily dose and personal glucose target settings (must be agreed with clinical team before the pump start). Our set up guide with help with these.
Any pre-pump start training tasks which have been advised by clinical team or pump trainer
2. Instruct user how to use YpsoPump
The YpsoPump will deliver insulin to the body via the insulin in the infusion set. It is vital that users have a good understanding of using the YpsoPump insulin pump with and without the CamAPS FX app.
The user guide (IFU) which comes in the YpsoPump box contains information on all the functions of the insulin pump. Using the training checklist please ensure all topics are trained successfully. The IFU is also a great resource for users to refer to at home if needed.
The IFU can also be access on our website named “user guide”
There is a quick start guide for the YpsoPump which is a great resource when teaching the functions of the YpsoPump and compliments the checklist.
The user must have agreed with the clinical team on basal rate settings for the YpsoPump which will be input into profile A and B in the basal setting. The set up guide can be a helpful tool for this.
YpsoPump uses a standard AAA battery. Ensure the user knows the low battery alerts and alarms, how to change the battery and the related risks, and also to always carry a spare battery.
NOTE:
The user must understand the main menu of the pump and where to find functions and settings. A map of the menu is available in Chapter 10 of the IFU and in the quick start guide.
The user must ensure that there are no issues with insulin delivery from the YpsoPump, all pump alerts must be acknowledged, regular infusion set changes 2 to 3 days and ensuring there is enough insulin in the YpsoPump at all times.
Ensure the user is familiar with all of the icons and alarms, a legend of these can be found in Chapter 10 of the IFU.
A virtual YpsoPump app is available on the Android and iOS app store called Explorer app. A patient can practice using all the functions of the YpsoPump using a 3D simulator as well as access guided tours and a glossary of pump icons and alarms.
3. Guide user on infusion sets and completing a set change
A user must be very confident in conducting an infusion set-change and inserting their chosen cannula before using the YpsoPump. This is one of the most important training aspects, as if the infusion set is not functioning, the insulin delivery will be compromised. There must be a low threshold for changing the infusion set in the event of suspected delivery issues. The Ypsopump has 3 infusion set options
Inset infusion (Teflon cannula, available in tube lengths from 46cm to 110cm and cannula length 6mm and 9mm)
Orbit micro (steel cannula, available in tube lengths from 46cm to 110cm and cannula length 6mm and 9mm) can be used with the mylife orbit inserter link
Orbit soft (Teflon cannula, available in tube lengths from 46cm to 110cm and cannula length 6mm and 9mm)
When priming, it is vital for the user to know the length of the tube and the cannula to know the priming volume required. The information on the tube and cannula length is on the side of the box and on the infusion set packaging. This information can be found in the IFU in the box of infusion sets or on the website.
Reminder: Encourage the user to always check which tube and cannula length and know what is normal for them. Advise them to contact for support if they are sent an alternative cannula to what they usually use.
Refilling process and completing a set change
The insulin reservoir can be refilled once. Please ensure the user does not refill the reservoir unless they feel confident doing so. Ensure the risks of refilling the reservoir more than once are advised. Encourage the user to follow this video for the refilling process.
Using YpsoPump without CamAPS FX app
Some YpsoPump functions which are particularly important for users to know in the event that the CamAPS FX app is not functioning or using the YpsoPump alone are:
Bolusing from the YpsoPump without a bolus calculator (manually calculating corrections and meal boluses) can be found in Chapter 4 of the IFU. This is particularly important in the event that the phone is lost, and the app cannot be accessed. Note that even in open loop a bolus can be given via the CamAPS FX app.
How to use temporary basal rates can be found in Chapter 3 of the IFU
Changing basal rates is also in Chapter 3 of the IFU
4. Setting up and using CamAPS FX app
Once the user is confident on how to use the insulin pump and familiar with the functions and infusion set changes, turn focus to education on HCL and pair the YpsoPump insulin pump to the CamAPS FX app.
In-app training must be completed for the app to function; the user is prompted to go through each animation in a sequence before being able to use the app. It is advised to encourage the user to do the inapp training in their own time before the AID start.
The user will also be prompted to add the bolus calculator settings, weight and TDD during set up. The PGT is defaulted to 5.8 mmol/L (105 mg/dL) if not manually adjusted.
The CamAPS FX user manual can be found in the help section of the app or on the CamDiab website.
Training factsheets on the following CamAPS FX functions are available on the app: bolus calculator, using “Boost”, using “Ease-off”, Calibration, using “Add meal”, app alerts, Data share options, Accessing Statistics, Block, Changing settings.
Access fact sheets on CamAPS FX app via: main menu – help – in app training – Download training factsheet.
NOTE:
The in-app training is usually done prior to the YpsoPump start by the user so they have time to focus on all the necessary animations and information. The training may also be done in clinic with the user but it must be completed before the AID system can be used. A user can go back at any time and watch the in-app training animations again. The in-app training only covers the functions in the app not the YpsoPump.
Using "Boost" will not prevent ketone development if there is an infusion set issue. Basics insulin pump upkeep still apply.
The main setting which will directly effect the automated insulin delivery is the PGT. The bolus calculator settings only effect manual bolus and corrections.
Hybrid Closed loop requires accurate CGM data, if the CGM is reading inaccurately for a period of time, the glucose can be calibrated on the app to correct this. Ensure the user carries a blood glucose meter at all times in the event of a CGM failure or suspected inaccurate readings.
5. Setting up follow and Share options
mylife Loop has many data share options for caregivers and clinicians to access the users glucose and insulin data as well as notifications and alarms. A factsheet on sharing diabetes data can be accessed on the app under the help section – in-app training – download factsheets. Ensure a caregiver has the correct data sharing and alert notifications enabled at the YpsoPump start.
Companion app – The CamAPS FX app can be downloaded by caregivers on their own phones to act as the companion app which mirrors the users app. No insulin adjustments can be made with the companion app but all data which can be accessed on the users app can also be seen on the companion app. Find out more about the companion app in the in-app training videos access in the help section of the app.
Glooko and mylife Cloud – these programs are usually access by the clinical team, please ensure the accounts are set up and shared with the clinical team at the YpsoPump start.
SMS – all alerts from the CamAPS FX app can be sent via SMS to up to 5 followers. The user must have a working SIM card in the phone for this function to work.
6. Vital supplementary information for specific population groups
Pregnancy – Pregnant women may have an increased risk of complications related to Type 1 Diabetes and must react promptly to out of range glucose levels. It is imperative that pregnant women are aware of these factors, and have the correct tools to mitigate these risks, for example appropriate sick day rules, managing high glucose and ketones, emergency situations, as well as support from friends or family members.
Also information available on the CamAPS FX app in; In app training video and app Factsheets on the CamAPS FX app under help in the main menu.
Children – Due to their unpredictable routines and activity levels, children’s glucose levels may fluctuate more than an adults. Use the information found here to highlight some of the functions in the mylife Loop that can help support families in their daily lives.
Adolescence – Some functions on the CamAPS FX app may assist with the challenges in this age group.
